Introduction
Have you ever forgotten something really important and thought, “I should have written that down!” When it comes to prayer, especially praying about the really important things in our lives, keeping a record of our prayers – and God’s answers – is a great spiritual discipline.
Prayer Journaling
One way we can keep a record of our prayers and God’s answers is with a prayer journal. Some people like to keep a daily journal, while others write in a journal every so often, as they pray about the really big things in their lives.
Index Cards
Another great way to keep track of answered prayers is with index cards, sticky notes, or something similar. Hang them in a prominent place like on the refrigerator or on the bathroom mirror. This is a great reminder to pray for them daily, and you can date them and file them away when God provides an answer.
Phone or Computer
In the digital age, most of us spend a lot of time on our phones and computers. Perhaps the easiest way to keep a record of answered prayers is to use the digital tools that already keep us connected. You can created your own in a note app, a word processor, or they even have ready-made apps you can download to record your prayers.
Takeaway
It’s important to keep a record of answered prayers. When you encounter a difficult season of life, you can look back at God’s track record and remember that He is always faithful. This is incredibly faith building and will deepen your relationship with God!

Thank you Pastor Allan. All of the above are wonderful. I have my prayer wall and I tack on my index cards with prayer request, i date them from beginning to answer. When they are answered I file them in my answered prayer file. I also journal, but index cards work best for me. God bless you and our prayer Warriors.
I love how this idea keeps you focused on the positive.
This is an area I personally need prayer for. I’ve been very sporadic in keeping that record. I can recall many answered prayers and I’m grateful for God’s faithfulness. I’m sure I’ve filed some of those answers in my “overlooked” file. I can see how valuable a journal would be for this. I need the discipline to start now and be faithful to the answer. Thank you for the encouragement.
