WHAT IS GROUP ALIGNMENT?

Group Alignment happens periodically and it is when we try to get every group growing in the same direction as those who attend the weekend services. It’s a great time for those who aren’t in a group to try one out and a great time for everyone to go deeper into what we talk about Sunday morning.

GROUP ALIGNMENT MATERIALS & HOW THEY WORK

Below you will find two resources that will help you in your Reconstruction: Nehemiah discussion group. These materials are to be used in conjunction with one another. The group study guide walks your group through the study by providing reading activities, discussion questions and more. In the study guide, you will be asked to watch short videos. We’ve made these videos accessible for free, just click the “Send Me a Login” button below. Once you’ve created a login, you can click the video content link below.

What is a Compass Group?

It’s a small group of people becoming more like Jesus while doing life together.

Why join a group?

God didn’t design us to do life alone. He called us to live in authentic community – one with relationships that help us grow in our faith. These types of relationships help us push through hard seasons of life and make the celebrations of life even more rich.

What are discussion groups?

These groups provide an easy onboard into the group experience by providing a low pressure environment to test out a group and build some connections. They meet on campus in the West Auditorium for the first half of the series while the group is getting to know each other and then transition into the home of one the group members for the second half.

How do groups align with the weekend message?

As the sermon series goes through the book of Nehemiah, so will Life Groups but not in an identical manner. This allows you to get fresh content and insights in your group that build off the sermons but also stand independent of it.

How can I see what discussion groups are talking about?

Groups will be going through Right Now Media’s Nehemiah study done by Dr. Eric Mason which you can view above under the section titled “Group Alignment Materials & How They Work.”

What happens in a discussion group?

Groups meet every week Sunday mornings at 11:00. They’ll usually start with an ice breaker question or a little time to catch up from the week, prayer time, and discussing the curriculum. Often groups will find some time at some point during the study to connect outside of the group for fun or to serve in the community.

I have my kids, may I bring them?

Every group handles where the kids go while the adults meet a little differently. Some groups have you bring the kids to the same location where the adults meet, but they play upstairs or in another room. Some have a babysitter for all the kids, whereas others have a connection to a babysitter who’s available to come to someone’s house. If you select the “Kids Options” filter in the Group Finder, and click “More Info” on a group, it will describe how that specific group takes care of the kids.

What if my group doesn't seem to be a good fit for me?

That’s okay! We know it sometimes takes a bit for you to get a good read on if a group is right for you. But, if you’ve tried a group a few times and it still doesn’t seem like the right one, no worries. Just let your group leader know, and use the Group Finder to find another one to try.
